On Saturday, September 21, Beaumont City units from CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire, Beaumont PD, Riverside County EMD and CHP gathered at the Beaumont Walmart to educate the public on preparing for disasters as part of Disaster Preparedness Month.
Medic Squad 66, along with the Station 66 Fire Explorers, taught "Sidewalk CPR”. This style of CPR is intended to educate the public on how to provide hands only CPR without the need to give mouth to mouth breaths to the victim. The compression method pushes remaining oxygen through the victims body keeping vital organs alive until emergency professionals arrive. Hands only CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
Over 175 people visited the educational booths and 76 people participated in the Sidewalk CPR training.
