On March 12, 2021, the skeletal remains of a human were found by the Coachella Valley Water District, while conducting routine maintenance on a retention pond located in the City of Palm Springs. The location the remains were found were close to the area of where Mr. Enguidanos’ vehicle was located abandoned on August 31, 2018. The Palm Springs Police Department and Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau were notified and took possession of the remains. A forensic examination was conducted on the remains and late last week a positive match was made to Mr. Enguidanos.  There is no evidence of foul play and arrangements are being made to release the remains of Mr. Enguidanos to family.

Original Press Release

On September 1, 2018, the Beaumont Police Department was contacted by the family of Michael John Enguidanos, age 54, of Covina, CA. Family members stated that Enguidanos left their residence in Beaumont to visit friends on August 24, 2018, and failed to return home as promised. Family members became concerned when they were unable to reach Enguidanos by telephone.

On August 31, 2018, prior to the family reporting Enguidanos missing, the California Highway Patrol came in contact with an unoccupied vehicle belonging to Enguidanos. The vehicle, a newer model black Honda Civic, had been parked along Whitewater Cutoff Road (see map), in Whitewater, CA, and was tagged by CHP for removal.

On September 4, 2018, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was conducting a separate investigation in the area and observed the vehicle in question. Family members were contacted and had the vehicle retrieved, where they later recovered Enguidanos’ keys and wallet inside.

At this time, there is no evidence of foul play. Enguidanos is listed as a “Missing Person” and is described as 54 years of age, 5’10”, 200lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair and unknown clothing.
