Park Playground Grant Awards

In the Works: Park Playground Grant Awards Graphic

Beaumont, CA - The City of Beaumont was recently awarded two Statewide Health Play grants for the installation of new playgrounds at the Sports Park and Shadow Creek Park.

The 100% match funding program provided by California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS), Playcore and Gametime provide cities the opportunity to install playgrounds that serve as National Demonstration Sites across the state. The sites use evidence-based best practices of inclusion, physical activity and fitness to enhance recreation spaces.

Beaumont was awarded a Play On grant for the Sports Park which will focus on promoting physical activity & fitness through active play. A Play On system incorporates the six key elements needed to promote fitness: balancing, sliding, brachiating, spinning, climbing, and swinging. Shadow Creek Park was awarded an Inclusive Play grant which will focus on providing a structure and environment which creates awareness, breaks down barriers and fosters friendships while supporting the diverse needs of users across the whole community.

Construction of the playgrounds is expected in 2023.
