The City of Beaumont certified its election to the City Council and selected Mike Lara as Mayor and Jessica Voigt as Mayor Pro Tem, marking a new leadership chapter.
During a city council meeting held on Monday, December 9, 2024, the election results were formally certified, confirming the public’s choice to re-elect David Fenn and Julio Martinez III to the City Council. Following the certification, the City Council unanimously selected Mike Lara to assume the role as Mayor.
Mayor Lara has been a resident of Beaumont his entire life and was first elected to the city council in 2014. He was reelected by the people in 2018 and 2022 serving as Mayor previously in 2016 and 2021. His dedication to the community, engagement, and advocacy will guide the city toward continued success. “I am honored to once again serve as Mayor for the City of Beaumont,” said Mayor Mike Lara. “I’m grateful to my City Council colleagues for their confidence and support. I look forward to collaborating on decisions that will enhance the quality of life for all our residents.”
Jessica Voigt was selected as Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Pro Tem Voigt has lived in Beaumont since 2003 and was elected to the City Council in 2022. Her proven commitment to advancing city initiatives and supporting residents will continue to complement the vision of the City Council. “It’s a privilege to serve as your Mayor Pro Tem,” said Jessica Voigt. “I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and eager to see what we can accomplish together in the year to come.”
Every year, the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are selected during the month of December with the aim of aligning the City Council leadership positions with the city’s greater goals and priorities for the upcoming year.
