Weed Abatement
The City of Beaumont remains committed to public safety and the well-being of our community. In keeping with our proactive approach, the City has introduced a new Weed Abatement Program to both enhance the visual appeal of our community and reduce the risk of fire posed by overgrown and dried vegetation.
With over 800 parcels of vacant land within city limits, this program plays a vital role during the late spring and early summer months. Following the spring rains, courtesy weed abatement notices are issued to property owners, allowing time to clear their lots of excessive vegetation.
Community Enhancement Officers will conduct inspections to determine which parcels remain uncleared. For those properties, a formal Notice to Clean Premises will be issued. If the property is not abated within the specified timeframe, city contractors will be scheduled to perform the necessary work without any further notice to the property owner.
This initiative not only supports fire prevention efforts but also promotes a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful Beaumont for all residents.
If you have scheduled the abatement of your parcel, please let us know by completing the form linked below with the required information. We will wait until after the date you provide before inspecting your parcel for compliance. Abatement Notification Form
Subscription Program
The City does offer a subscription program for owners who may not have the resources to have their parcels cleared of vegetation. For owners who live out of town or are unable to abate their property, the City of Beaumont offers a subscription program. The subscription program is offered to assist parcel owners in abating their property for a reasonable cost and gives peace of mind that their property is weed abated. The property owner is still responsible for the fees incurred by the City to abate the weeds along with an additional processing fee. Upon abatement, the owner will be provided with an invoice. If the invoice is not paid, the City will place on the Riverside County Tax Rolls and assessment and that will be collected thru Riverside County Tax assessor. Every year, the property owner is responsible for completing a subscription application in order for the City to abate their parcel.
Failure to Comply
Owners who fail to comply or fail to sign up for the subscription service will have their parcel abated by a City contractor. The cost of the abatement will placed on the Riverside County Tax Rolls as an assessment and will be collected by Riverside County Tax Assessor. In addition, a $1,000 citation WILL BE issued to the property owner.
