City of Beaumont – 2025 Weed Abatement Season
The City of Beaumont has officially commenced its 2025 Weed Abatement Season. In accordance with the Beaumont Municipal Code and to encourage property owners to maintain their properties, several steps have been outlined as part of the annual Weed Abatement Program. Below is a summary of completed actions and anticipated future milestones.
Program Timeline
- Early June 2025: Courtesy Notices were mailed to all vacant parcels and to developed parcels with substantial undeveloped land. These notices advised property owners to abate overgrown vegetation and informed them that City inspections could begin no earlier than June 15, 2025.
- June 2025: Following a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process, the City selected two contractors to provide weed abatement services. The first contract was finalized on June 25, 2025.
- July 3, 2025: Property inspections will begin to assess compliance with weed abatement requirements.
- Non-Compliant Properties: Parcels found to be out of compliance will receive a “Notice to Clean Premises”, which requires the property owner to abate the weeds within 10 days.
- Re-Inspection and Abatement: After the 10-day period, Community Enhancement Officers will re-inspect the parcels. If the property remains non-compliant, it will be referred to the City’s Abatement Contractor for service.
- Invoicing and Tax Roll Placement:
- Property owners will be invoiced for the cost of abatement.
- Unpaid balances will be forwarded to the Riverside County Assessor to be added to the property's tax bill.
Weed Abatement Subscription Program
- The Courtesy Notices issued in early June also included information about the Weed Abatement Subscription Program, which is available for property owners who lack the resources to manage weed abatement on their own. Enrollment in the program must be renewed annually.
- Parcels enrolled in the Subscription Program will be forwarded to the City’s Abatement Contractor beginning July 3, 2025.
- The contractor will complete the abatement, and property owners will receive an invoice for the service, including an administrative fee.
- All unpaid invoices will be submitted to the Riverside County Assessor for placement on the property’s tax roll.
Property Owner Coordination
- Property owners who have already scheduled their own weed abatement were asked to notify the City by submitting an online form indicating their planned abatement date. These reports have been logged, and inspections are scheduled following the declared completion date to ensure compliance with City standards.
- If the inspection determines that abatement was not performed or is insufficient, a Notice to Clean Premises will be issued.
- If you have any questions regarding the Weed Abatement Program, Subscription Program, or inspections, please contact the City of Beaumont's Code Enforcement Division.
